Death of Oliver Boddy, one of The Alberts dead

Born in 1893, Oliver Albion Boddy seems to have lived all his life in The Alberts. On the 1901 census, he lived at 2 Albany Passage and by 1911 he had moved to 9 Albany Passage, where he was listed as a Grocery Assistant. His widowed mother was a laundress.

Oliver served as a Rifleman in the City of London Battalion Rifle Brigade. He was recorded as dead on 9 October 1916. His name is on the Theipval Memorial, which lists the names of men missing after the Battle of the Somme. His body was never found.
