Fundraising on the Home Front

On 14 October 1915 the Richmond Herald ran a short notice on the success of fundraising activities to raise money for the pets of soldiers and sailors:

“This week she [Mrs Barnett] can be seen daily in the streets of Richmond making collections in aid of the League with a small pony aged thirty-two years. She informs me that she has, in company with another lady filled fourteen collection boxes. This she attributes to the attraction of the pony, which is much admired by all passers-by.”
